Berchtesgaden… again

Hey everyone!

I am so behind on blogging (as always) but I am trying to focus on Youtube a little bit and be able to make more videos. With that being said and getting it out of the way…. Mike and I went on one of our wonderful ausfluge- about a week or two ago. We ended up in route to Salzburg but decided to make a detour at Königssee and Berchtesgaden (Rossfeldpanoramastrasse). I have mentioned many many times that Berchtesgaden is BEAUTIFUL… and the definition of PERFECTION but what I have never mentioned is the fact that Königssee is one of the most breathtaking places in all of Bavaria/Germany.

It’s very hard for me to enjoy anything in Germany right now because the weather is really horrible. The temperature is painful for me and it just doesn’t bring the mood up but I have been trying my best to stay positive and push through. After our short *entertaining boat ride on Königssee (the captain played a little song on the trumpet…hopefully it was a trumpet and told us a wonderful story about the history that has to do with Bavaria/Königssee and so much more).

Afterwards we headed to Rossfeld and watched the sunset (Mike watched, I sat in the car sulking at the -11 degrees) and afterwards made our way to Salzburg to eat some of the best braised ribs I have ever had in my life.

Thank you so very much & lots of love from me to you!

Neuschwanstein

Hey everyone,

Mike and I (mostly me), decided it would be an awesome idea to go to Neuschwanstein. I have been trying to make more “travel/interactive” videos…..which require me to actually leave the house and brave the outside world. We looked up the weather and saw it was actually going to be decent outside…So I thought to myself  it would be nice to finally start my Neuschwanstein video. Now there are so many things I have to say about Neuschwanstein and hopefully this blogpost won’t turn into a rant (please lord let it not be a rant).

I have been at least 5 times to Neuschwanstein….I live in Munich and have been living here for almost 3 years…..Why not go…It’s only an hour+ away?

It was extremely cold this time. This was seriously the coldest I have been in my life…Even with my down jacket, my beanie, my sweater, pullover and etc etc. I was still freezing my assoff…. I could seriously feel my soul turning into an even bigger ice cube than it already is (if you plan on going to Neuschwanstein from November-March/April DRESS WARM). I do have to say that the snow made it a little more magical though :p

There were too many damn people! Y’all! I am not over exaggerating but there were seriously SO MANY PEOPLE. Everywhere I turned……a selfie was being taken, people were talking too loud…People were touching things that weren’t supposed to be touched etc etc. It was just really crowded and sortuve made me feel like a sardine in a can.

Baustelle (construction). There seems to always be construction at this dang castle…If its not the bridge being closed, it’s the whole front of the castle being wrapped in plastic and metal. I mean the castle is still beautiful BUT the whole metal bars and ugly yellow signs just take away some of the beauty.

If you are in the Munich/Bayern area and you are thinking about going to Neuschwanstein….DON’T DO IT. I say this after going many different times and experiencing it during many different seasons. Neuschwanstein MAY be the “Disney” castle BUT it’s not worth the money in my opinion. The castle has too much of a “hype” around it and I seriously find it to be a tourist trap. I would recommend going to the little sister castle which is called Linderhof. SO MUCH MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! Plus…The tour isn’t as crap as the one at Neuschwanstein. :p

Walking in Germany

Good evening everyone!

Since living in Germany I have done 2 things….Gained weight and learned to walk. Granted I knew how to walk in the USA but it’s just not as common as in Germany. They have the whole “spaziergang” thing down to a T. I know you would think if I walk so much more nowadays, I shouldn’t be gaining weight….Have you ever heard of German bread? It’s the devil’s best friend.

This post isn’t necessarily about my weight gain, it’s about WALKING and how nice it is. I am able to experience Germany in a different way. Walking the streets of somewhere is half the fun. Anyone can drive a car, park it and arrive at the destination but I have learned that the journey is what makes everything so magical. I think I realize now one of the main reasons I fell in love with Munich (don’t get me wrong, there are millions) was due the fact that I discovered this city all by myself by foot. I have discovered treasures that I would never be able to discover if I did not WALK.

If you are in Germany and you are able to walk from point a to point b…PLEASE DO SO. Not only is it the healthier option, it is the most scenic 😀

BERCHTESGADEN

Hello Everyone!

Let me start off by saying….I KNOW. I am so behind in my blogging BUT I promise..I PROMISE in the near future it will get a lot better.

Mike and I are that couple that drive 2+ hours on the weekend to look at rocks. I mean who doesn’t like really high altitudes with amazing views? Basically Berchtesgaden (spelling) is a city or area or…. place in Bavaria. Everyone travels there because it was a vacation hot spot for Hitler and the “Eagles Nest” is nestled not too far away.

Doing a little research on the Eagles Nest and Berchtesgaden and making a day trip out of this would be a good idea on your part (JUST SAYING). I mean Mike and I were extremely “Spät dran” because of traffic and missed out on EVERYTHING but we still made the best of the situation and got awesome photos and videos 😀

Love y’all ❤

Partnachklamm

Hey y’all!

As always Mike and I went on a wonderful ausflug on the weekend (awhile ago). I basically instagram stalked some girl and sent Mike a screenshot saying “I want to go here”. Without knowing where it was (It was not that far away) Mike decided Partnachklamm would be a wonderful location to spend the day.

Granted if this was a Tuesday afternoon, I do not think there would be anybody here (and you could enjoy it a little more) BUT on a Sunday afternoon with good weather…It’s a nightmare.

Cheap Train Tickets Through Bayern

Screen Shot 2017-07-13 at 8.53.52 PM

Hey you guys!

I have been traveling with the “trains” for quite some time here in Munich. You would think I know all the tricks… BUT, I still seem to surprise myself. Well I don’t surprise myself, the Deutsche Bahn seems to surprise me.

Basically, if you are coming to Munich/Bayern as a group (up to 5 people) anytime soon, and looking for a cheap way to travel I would recommend getting the Bayern-Ticket. Not only is it cheap, you can order it months beforehand and you can also get it at any DB ticket automat.

The ticket lets you travel throughout Bayern for the day for DIRT CHEAP. I mean….REALLY cheap. I bought the ticket once with 4 other girls and we took a trip to Salzburg (near Bavaria) and it cost 50 euros there and back for all 5 of us. Granted we could not take the ICE and had to take the regional trains BUT STILL 50euros for a round trip to another country is a great deal. There are so many places that are accessible with this ticket and so many places that you could visit. If you are thinking about traveling to Bavaria and wanting to visit many destinations/make multiple stops the Bayern ticket is one of your best bets. PLUS the views are amazing.

This table just shows the amount of people traveling (anzahl Reisende) and the difference between price and class (2. Klasse = Economy, 1. Klasse = First class, Nacht = evening train rides).

I hope you will have so much fun and wish you so much luck on your journey through Bavaria!!

Love, Hayley ❤

Traveling to Munich?

Hey You guys,

Ok so most of y’all know that  I live in Munich, Germany. BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD. A lot of people that watch my videos, read my blog or follow me in general are interested in A) German culture through an American’s eyes or B) Looking for tips before coming to Germany. This wonderful blog post is for you people that are coming to Munich in the near future.

Munich is full of fancy cars, beautiful people and most importantly BEER. Not only is there a lot of it but the beer actually taste good. I 100% recommend a trip to a biergarten if you are in Munich from the months of April/May-September :D. The buzzing atmosphere will make you feel so welcome.

I have found a map of I guess the “best” biergartens in Munich that are accessible by public transportation. There are many that are not accessible by public transportation BUT I can’t give y’all all the secrets, now can I?

Biergarten Munich

Have a wonderful day & I love you guys ❤
